Primary Responsibilities:
YMCA Summer Day Camps include over 30 camps offered at 15 sites across Niagara. We are currently seeking individuals who are capable of bringing their unique personality and talents to our dynamic team. Along with over 200 other qualified leaders you will enjoy quality training, a fun and exciting work environment and an opportunity to make a difference in your community. Head Counsellors coach and supervise camp counsellors and cooperatively plan and organize safe and creative daily activities for campers including theme days and special events. Program Specialists work at Burgoyne Woods in St. Catharines and focus on developing and delivering program for one of the core program areas: nature, arts and crafts, adventure or sports. Behavioural Specialists will be splitting their time between assisting with the Program Support program and coaching staff and campers through any behavioural situations that arise at the camp site. Behavioural Specialists will be located at the larger St. Catharines camp sites.
Skills and Experience required by the position:
Experience working with children or youth in a Day or Residential Camp setting, Applicants must be 18 years of age or older, Values driven individuals who make excellent role models for children and youth, Sound judgement and decision making skills, Energy, enthusiasm and flexibility, Experience coaching staff or volunteers is an asset, Experience planning and leading programs, Standard First Aid and CPR-C and current criminal reference check, Behavioural Specialists - Class G Drivers License and reliable transportation is required.

YMCA Summer Day Camps are offered from July 5 to September 3, 2010 at various sites throughout Welland, Niagara Falls, Fort Erie, Port Colborne, St. Catharine's and West Lincoln. All camp staff are required to attend staff training week from Sunday June 27th to Friday July 2, 2010 (all staff will be off for the July 1 Holiday)

How to Apply

Interested applicants are invited to attend one of the following group auditions: Saturday, April 10 at 1pm and 3pm at the St. Catharine's Walker Family YMCA, Sunday, April 11th at 1pm at the Fort Erie E. J. Freeland YMCA, Saturday, April 24th at 1pm and 3 pm at the Niagara Falls YMCA Sunday April 25th at 1pm at the Welland Niagara Centre YMCA All group auditions will last approximately 2 hours in length. Hiring is done for all YMCA of Niagara Camp locations/communities on all dates. Please bring a resume and cover letter with you to your audition, which indicates the position and city you are interested in working. Dress comfortably (as you will be asked to participate in camp games) and bring plenty of energy and enthusiasm!
